Always seeking a good adventure, violist Rachel Mossburg continually explores ways in which to nourish her musical wanderlust. She is an engaging performer, active chamber musician, has a love for teaching private lessons to youth, and enjoys pushing musical boundaries by playing genres of all types. Having come from a classical background, she is also passionate about supporting talented young composers and playing new works. Rachel is on an album produced by Navona Records, where she and a chamber quartet accompany vocalist Dr. Katherine Jolly. The work, “Absent an Adjustment,” is composed by Katherine Bodor. Rachel plays regularly with professional orchestras in the Midwest, including the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, and Owensboro Philharmonic Orchestra. As a soloist, she has had the privilege of playing in masterclasses for Pinchas Zukerman, Roberto Diaz, William Bolcolm. Outside of the classical music realm, she has played in various bands, and performed four years in a row for Down the Line at the Embassy Theatre in Fort Wayne, IN. These performances included works by David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Queen.
