Monica Larrea is a versatile singer-songwriter, teacher and musical entrepreneur from Miami, FL, now based in sunny San Diego. Her passion for music ignited early on, with her childhood spent singing in choir, and performing in ensembles, and writing songs.
Monica graduated with a Bachelor of Music (BM) in Music Therapy from the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. At Frost, Monica’s songwriting flourished alongside her formal training in piano, guitar, and vocal techniques. Drawing inspiration from diverse influences like neo-soul, jazz, Latin, and pop music, she has recently released her second single, “Sensitive,” with more singles on the horizon for 2025 and onward.
As a teacher, Monica excels at guiding beginning-to-intermediate students in vocal, guitar, ukulele and piano, helping them to play and sing their favorite songs while providing foundational theory-based instruction. Classically trained vocalists can also benefit from Monica’s experience in transitioning from classical to authentic contemporary singing. As a skilled performer, Monica fosters a love for performing and personal expression in her students, encouraging songwriting, developing stage presence, and cultivating expressive singing, piano, and guitar/ukulele playing.
