Michael began playing piano at the age of 6.  He studied performance and composition at Northern Illinois University, jazz piano with Willie Pickens at the Chicago Conservatory College, composition and creative writing at Columbia College, and arranging with Cliff Colnot at DePaul University.

 

As an active working musician, Mike has worked as a jingle house composer/producer for several years, doing radio and TV  commercials and music for corporate presentations.  He also worked on scoring music for film and television, most notably being the “American Justice” documentary series.

 

Michael is a piano teacher of all ages ranging from 4-55 years  old.  He believes in making lessons as engaging as  possible, and customs his  lessons based on the personality of each student.  He teaches classical, improvisation, and pop music styles.
